FAQs
Suffolk Coastal Deckchairs was a collection of more than 50 deckchair canvases which were designed by artists and household names to raise money for St Elizabeth Hospice.
23 of the deckchairs were being auctioned online. The remaining deckchairs were auctioned at Trinity Park in Ipswich on 1st October.
Thank you to everyone who supported the project; an amazing £35,000 was raised.
What is St Elizabeth Hospice?
The aim of Suffolk Coastal Deckchairs is to raise funds for St Elizabeth Hospice. Based in Ipswich, the Hospice provides end-of-life care for people in East Suffolk. The focus of care is quality of life for the people with any life-limiting illness.
Isn't the Hospice funded by the NHS? Why do they need funds?
It costs £6.6 million every year or £13 every minute for St Elizabeth Hospice to deliver the services which it provides free of charge to the community. While the Hospice receives some funding from the NHS, 77 per cent of that total is raised by supporters.
